Whether you’re an Oakleigh local or just visiting, there’s plenty of reasons to swap a grocery list for a menu in this part of town.

A suburb with strong Greek roots, Oakleigh is thriving with restaurants that offer traditional Greek cuisine as well as dishes with a European fusion.

Here are some of our recommendations for lunch and dinner in Oakleigh, whether you’re looking for a welcoming solo lunch or dinner, or a perfect gathering spot for family and friends.

Richmond Oysters Oakleigh

Looking for Australian produce that follows an ocean-to-plate philosophy? Richmond Oysters in Oakleigh has a live holding tank on site so you can be assured they’re sourcing their main ingredients with high quality and sustainable standards.

You can choose to pair your oysters with a Bloody Mary or a Japanese beverage such as sake, mirin, wasabi or ginger. Alternatively, try a generous selection of seafood platters.

Meat Me Souvlakeri

For those looking for humble food done well, Meat Me Souvlakeri is built on the perfect pairing of sizzling chargrilled meat and crispy hot chips. Fresh pita and homemade traditional tzatziki also balances out the strong flavours of the meats on offer.

Meat Me is perfect for large or small groups, as they can offer banquet-style meals, a mixed grill, appetisers or classic gyros.

Euro Bites Greek Eatery

Offering a menu filled with Turkish-influenced Greek food, Euro Bites caters to both traditional meat lovers and vegetarians who love Mediterranean flavours.

Expect slow-cooked gyros as an eat-in meal or plenty of generous mains and platters to share. Lamb cutlets, pork skewers, smoked sausages, spanikopita, gigandes, falafel and couscous salad are all stand-out menu options. Choose from a set menu (with a minimum of four guests), or mix and match from the light mezze, mains, dips and salad options.

Kalimera Souvlaki Art

Kalimera follows a “fresh is always best” philosophy which shows in their effortlessly appetising menu.

Their pita bread is handmade and chargrilled, all salad ingredients are locally sourced, sauces are made in-house, herbs are picked from their garden (with the exception of Greek-imported oregano) and they use the leanest cuts of meat available.

This spot is a perfect match for those looking for wholesome meals with uncompromising flavours.
