Love to indulge yourself a little pampering from time to time?
Glam House of Hair is Oakleigh’s one stop shop for all things hair and beauty, offering visitors a friendly and relaxing salon environment where you’re sure to leave feeling like a movie star.
A newcomer to the Oakleigh shopping precinct, Glam House of Hair opened in November 2015 and is owned by Annie Tigas, a qualified hairdresser with more than 30 years’ experience in the industry.
Ms Tigas, a long-time Oakleigh resident, first became interested in hair at seven years of age when she would stand and admire the two salons in Oakleigh every Saturday morning while her mother did the shopping.
“I’d then go home and set up the bathroom with all of mum’s curlers and dryers and get all my friends to come and play hairdressers,” she said.
Providing all aspects of hairdressing including extensions, the Glam House of Hair team are also specialists in bridal and formal occasion hair.
Additional services include beauty and wellness treatments such as spray tanning, waxing, nails, massage and reflexology.
In addition to Glam House of Hair, Ms Tigas also has her own brand of premium hair extensions called Salon Flair Australia and runs Learn Hair Up Melbourne, a training business located at the rear of the salon.
Here, she conducts workshops and master classes in the art of hair up, formal styling for hairdressers already employed in the industry and those who simply have an interest in learning more about hair.
Ms Tigas said she has enjoyed watching Oakleigh grow over the decades to become one of Melbourne’s “places to be”.
“As I am of Greek background and visit Greece regularly, Oakleigh makes me feel like I’m in Athens everyday,” she said.
“It attracts people from everywhere and you can’t get better coffee than in Oakleigh.”
Glam House of Hair is located at 60 Portman St, Oakleigh.
The salon is open Monday to Wednesday from 10am – 5pm, Thursday to Friday from 10am – 9pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 10am-4pm.
